John says in 1 Corinthians 14:8
“I thank my God that I speak in tongues more than all of you”
And in 1 Corinthians 14:39  Paul encourages us with these Words…“therefore brothers and sisters be eager to prophesy and do not forbid speaking in tongues”

Every tribe has a language.
As sons and daughters of the Almighty King of Kings…we are of the tribe of Jesus, Yeshua… baptised in His Spirit and given our very own Spirit language to speak.
1 Corinthians 13:1 says “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
This Spirit language is also the tongue of angels.
We are given this Spirit language when we are baptised in the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit baptism is separate from water baptism and we see this in
Acts 8:14 and Acts 19:1.

As new covenant believers we are so blessed to have the Holy Spirit dwelling in and with us every moment of every day.
The Word of God tells us to:
Be filled with the Spirit Eph 5:18
Pray in the Spirit 1 Cor 14:15
Live in the Spirit Gal 5:25
keep in step with the Spirit Gal 5:25/ Gal 5:16
Be led of the Spirit Rom 8:14
Have the fruit of the Spirit Gal 5:22-25
Manifest gifts of the Spirit  1 Cor 12:7
Be transformed by the Spirit 2 Cor 3:18

The Father so loved the world that He gave His only Son.
Jesus loved the church that He gave His Body on the cross to purchase the church with His Blood.
Jesus gave the Holy Spirit to empower the church and transform her into His image – so she can be presented to Him as a pure and spotless bride
And the Holy Spirit’s gift to us is a supernatural language of the Spirit.

1 Thess 5:23 tells us we are Spirit beings..
Paul says here in these verses “ may the God of peace sanctify you through and through.. may your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless.”
God is Spirit and so our Spirit language connects our Spirit to His Spirit
1 Corinthians 14:14
“For if I am praying in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful”

John 3:6 “Flesh gives birth to flesh and spirit gives birth to spirit”
As we pray in the Spirit we are giving birth to the spirit…. And that is what we want.  We want our spirit man to grow bigger than our flesh nature.

I love conferences and have been very blessed by many of these gatherings  but I see that many Christians run to conferences to receive impartation and be built up by others because they have not learned to build themselves up in the Holy Spirit. We have a ‘mighty power that is at work in us that we need to activate and live from.

1 Cor 14:4 Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves…
Praying in the Spirit is like a generator – an electric machine which converts energy from a mechanical into an electric form -it creates  power!

Ephesians 6:18 “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.  With this in mind, be alert and always keep praying for all the Lord’s people”
We engage the Spirit to conduct business in the spirit.

In 2 Timothy 1:6-7,  Paul reminds us to fan into flame the gift of God…

Just like We use 10% of our brain power… so we use 10% of the power of God in us… but how do we activate  and access it? - by faith and praying in the Spirit.

Faith is the currency of heaven just like money is the currency of the earth.
Mark 9:23 Everything is possible for one who believes
So how do we believe more/ get more faith?

  1. Faith comes from hearing the Word of God
  2. Jude 1:20 Build yourselves up in your most holy faith by praying in the Spirit.

We receive faith by the Word of God but we build it in praying in the Spirit.

Praying in tongues builds faith as well as charging our Spirit power.

Ultimately the more ways we can find to increase God’s faith and power in us – the more productive we are going to be in our lives and ministries.

At times it may feel mechanical but just like a generator it turns the mechanical energy to electric energy.

To grow our faith we need to add the fuel of the Word of God to our hearts, which is like wood, and the fire is the Holy Spirit.
We fill our heart and mind with the Word of God and empower our Spirit by praying in tongues.

Imagine an electrical circuit.  Faith is the switch that allows power to flow.
Unbelief stops the flow of power.  The gifts of the Holy Spirit are activated by faith  - faith alllows the power to flow into the gifts.
Gifts of the Spirit are manifestations of the Spirit.  As we pray in the Spirit..we are activating these gifts.  All gifts are given by God’s grace but received and activated by our faith.  These manifestations prove that God is alive and active in the world – they are given to meet the needs of others!!!!

Romans 12:6 we prophesy according to our faith.

Where is the faith switch located?  Romans 10:9-10 “If confess with your mouth and believe in your heart”… the switch for faith is your heart and mouth.

1 Cor 14:2 “For anyone who speaks in a tongue, does not speak to people but to God.  Indeed no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.”

When we pray in the Spirit we are downloading mysteries from Heaven.  God is downloading His heart into ours.  These are the secrets of God  - not naturally understood.
We release mysteries to combat miseries!

Through praying in tongues we have the ability to activate and generate the  Presence and power of God and the attributes of His nature anytime – it is a key to unlock our Spirit life.

Praying in the Spirit activates the fruit of the Spirit in our lives… this fruit is
really the attributes of God.
This is hugely important for us, as our highest calling and purpose is to be conformed to the image of His Son. Romans 8:29
The fruit of the Spirit is the nature and character of Jesus.  The more fruit we have, the more conformed we are to the nature of Jesus.
Praying in the Spirit grows our fruit of the Spirit.
It is like fertilizer or compost, it nourishes us so that more fruit comes forth.

Holiness is also activated through praying in the Spirit… as Romans 1:4 refers to the Spirit as the Spirit of Holiness.

Ephesians 1:17  I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus, may give you the  Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know Him better.  I pray that the eyes of your heart may enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in his holy people.
Through praying in the Spirit, wisdom and revelation is activated. It activates the mind of Christ in us …. It brings the mind of Christ up from our spirit to our mind.

1 Cor 2:13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit taught Words

Romans 8:2 speaks of “…the Spirit who gives life” …. Life is activated through praying in the Spirit.

Our Spirit takes on the same nature as the one who gives it.
Exodus 15:3 says the Lord is a man of War – that makes us warriors too.

As we pray in the Spirit … we don’t need to get our hands dirty because the Lord fights for us.
The battle is the Lords and as we pray in the Spirit… we are praying the perfect will of God and He is the one battling for us.

Romans 8:27 says: “we do not know what to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans, and He who knows our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.”

1 John 5:14 “and this is the confidence we have in approaching God:  that if we ask anything according to His Will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of Him.”

It is important to know where we are positioned when we are praying in the Spirit… for us to know the impact we are making.
Eph 2:6 “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the Heavenly Realms in Christ Jesus”
Eph 1:21 says “Christ is far above all rule and authority, power and dominion and every name that is invoked.”
We are in Christ therefore we also are seated with Him far above all rule and authority, power and dominion.  As we pray in the Spirit we operate from the 3rd Heaven…. The Heavenly Headquarters and command centre…the Courts of Jesus.

In Eph 6, Paul talks about the armour of God and at the end of describing the armour…. he says, “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions… with this in mind, be alert and always keep  on praying for all the Lords people.”
How can we always keep on praying for all the Lords people…other than by praying in the Spirit…then the Spirit prays in accordance with the Fathers will.

2 Cor 10:3-4 says that the weapons we fight with are not of this world… praying in the Spirit is a great weapon!

When we pray in the Spirit in one accord ….there is great power in our praying in unity.
“one man can pursue a thousand,
or two can put ten thousand to flight,”

Just think how much power can be generated with many praying in the Spirit at the same time in unity.

There is a divine law at work in the earth:  Nothing on earth can be accomplished for the cause of God without someone first praying it into existence.
We are like midwives here  – birthing things from Heaven onto earth – that includes souls/ revival/ finances etc

The Word of God, Jesus, lives to make intercession for us…  the major way He does this is by His Spirit making intercession with our Spirit language.

John 16:13 says that “the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth.”
I want to always be walking in the truth …. So this promise says that as we pray in the Spirit He is leading us daily moment by moment into the truth.

When we use this language, we are interfering with things beyond the natural realm.  We are engaging with the invisible to do the impossible.
Our English is limited in what we can pray or even know what to pray.
We pray in an unknown tongue to deal with unknown things.

John 7:38
“He who believes in me – out of His heart will flow rivers of living water… but this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive.”
It is time to release the living waters from our hearts  to the thirsty and barren land around us.

Ephesians 6:18 “Pray at all times in the Spirit” is a command and not a suggestion!

The greatest apostle of all time Paul said in 1 Corinthians 14 “I thank my God I pray in tongues more than all of you!”
