Partnering with the Holy Spirit in our outreach.
Luke 5:4-6 Jesus tells His disciples to let down their nets for a catch. They had worked hard all night for nothing but when they let down their nets at Jesus’ Word, a miracle happened. The net was filled to overflowing with fish.
When we partner with the Holy Spirit miracles happen.
God never meant for spiritual gifts to be confined to the four walls of the church.
At the pool of Bethesda, Jesus drew one man out of the crowd of disabled and ill people.
Why did he not go round healing everyone there?
John 5:19 Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does, the Son does also.
Faced with many options as to who to minister to and who to focus on, Jesus limited himself to only doing those things He saw His father doing.
Prophetic evangelism is a lifestyle of being led of the Holy Spirit daily to love and reach out to the lost, being obedient to the gentle voice of the Spirit to say or do whatever he tells you and to be supernatural wherever you are.
There are no formulas or scripts in prophetic evangelism.
Heaven holds the script and as we walk with Jesus, He reveals this to us for each individual.
Jesus used different methods to reach different people… and so now we follow His example.
At the well He asked the Samaritan woman for a drink and then began flowing in Words of Knowledge for her. This opened up her heart and her eyes, she then shared this with her community and a whole town came to faith. John 4:7
John 1:47-51 Jesus had a word of wisdom and a word of knowledge for Nathaniel. On account of this Nathaniel knew Jesus was the Son of God and became a disciple.
Jesus saw Zacheus sitting in the tree and was able to perceive his loneliness … He saw the needs and desires of this man’s heart and invited himself to Zacheus’s house for lunch… This changed Zacheus forever and he underwent a huge transformation in his life and came to follow Jesus.
Jesus met Peter out fishing and gave a Word of knowledge about where to let down their nets. Luke 5:4
Iv seen many people do evangelism without Jesus. They take the words of Jesus literally in Matthew 28:18 and do them but they forget the last line…. And lo I am with you always.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go [c]therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” [d]Amen.
Jesus wants us to partner with Him, be led of Him in all of our lives and outreach.
“The testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy” Revelation 19:10
When we partner with Jesus in our everyday ordinary life, our sleeping, eating, going to work, walking around life… there will always be a prophetic flow.
Acts 2:17 In the last days I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Young men will have visions..
We are all called to prophesy.
Jesus says: My sheep know my voice
The Prophetic is a powerful tool for reaching unbelievers.
1 Corinthians 14:24-25 But if an unbeliever or an enquirer comes in while everyone is prophesying, they are convicted of sin and are brought under judgement by all as the secrets of their hearts are laid bare. So they will fall down and worship God exclaiming, God is really among you!
Matt 7:11 The Father gives good gifts to those that ask.
If you want to flow in the prophetic, or increase in this gifting … just ask the Father.
John 15:5-6 I am the the vine and you are the branches. If a man abides in me and I in Him, He will bear much fruit.
Jesus wants to interact with and meet people through you. He has equipped you for this by giving you the gift of the Holy Spirit, His power and gifts …these you can take with you everywhere!
Mark 3:14 When Jesus chose His twelve disciples it was…”that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach”
The disciples were so conscious of this great privilege of always being with Jesus that when he said he was leaving them to go back to the Father, their hearts were filled with sorrow. But Jesus comforted them with the promise of the Holy Spirit. His Presence in them would be far deeper and more intimate. So their first calling (to be with Jesus) remained unchanged. They would still have unbroken fellowship with Him.
This unbroken fellowship was the key and secret to their power to testify.
The same principle stands for us today – without His Presence with us – our testifying has no power.
You can walk in miracles all day because Jesus is walking with you.
As you walk with Jesus – open your eyes and look around you - in your home, workplace, school, neighbourhood, shops are opportunities to share with others.
Look at the gospels - the story of Jesus’ life is played out in homes, streets, market places, social gatherings and public places. The very place where you live, study, travel, and work are the places where Jesus wants to be made known.
You may be the one who sows and not reaps but that is just as important. One plants and another waters but it is God that makes that seed grow. As long as we are being obedient to the nudging of the Holy Spirit… that is what is required of us.
When we work with the Holy Spirit, He already sees where that person is on their timeline of receiving Jesus as Lord. He knows what is in their hearts and also what is the key to unlock their hearts.
So we “see” where God is already working and we join Him in what He is doing in that person’s life.
For example in Acts 8:26-29 Phillip is told by an angel to go south to the desert road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. So he went and on his way he meets an Ethiopian.
Be prepared to meet people on your way. Don’t be destination focussed.
The Holy Spirit had already prepared the Ethiopian’s heart and had led him to read Isaiah 53. He was seeking understanding. He was ready for Philip to explain to him about Jesus.
Before you go out each day pray for divine appointments… pray for Holy Spirit set ups. Pray for hungry people. Pray the Lord leads you to men of peace.
Prayer will position you with those people that God is already working with.
Acts 4:13 “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realised that they were unschooled ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note, these men had been with Jesus.”
To share a Word that you feel is from God takes faith and involves risk.
Step out onto the water like Peter and keep your eyes on Jesus.
Your Word will be like a sign post pointing them to Jesus.
It will reflect God’s love and desire for relationship with them.
It may turn the direction of their lives around and transform their mess into God’s goodness.
It will give them a message that God has a destiny and purpose for them.
This is a lifestyle God is calling us to. “In Him we live and move and have our being”
One of the best ways to keep ourselves in the Spirit and connected to Jesus, is to be praying in the Spirit throughout our day.
This puts our “spirit battery” on charge and empowers us. We really want to go through life with full power always being fully charged so that we can be picking up Heaven’s signal. Heaven’s wifi is open to us as believers and we need to be plugged in or Bluetooth on so that downloads from Heaven can be always coming through.
Its all about His Presence. Its all about partnering with the Holy Spirit. Every moment of every day living with Jesus.
Like Moses said in Exodus 33:15 “If Your Presence doesn’t go with us – do not send us up from here.”
Jesus said that when the Spirit came, he would flow out of His people like a river. A river is continually receiving and continually releasing – Supernatural life! Lets be making sure as much as we are having His Spirit flow into us…we must be having an outflow for His living waters to refresh and give life to the dry and thirsty hearts living in a desert wilderness around us.
